Battlefield 2142
Battlefield 2142 "The year is 2142 and the dawn of a new Ice age has
thrown the world into a panic. The soil not covered by ice can only feed
a fraction of the Earth's population. The math is simple and brutal: some
will live, most will die."

Last month saw the release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 2142.
After several false starts, with reports of the title hitting the shops
early next year, 2007, EA finally shipped its latest title in the hugely
popular combat series.
Lets deal with the negatives first, it is felt that in its rush to beat
the competition, primarily ID software with Quake Wars, the title was
let loose with more holes than a sieve.
Rumours are rife that it is possible to increase your stats, player score,
without taking part in armed conflict. Another area which points to this
fact is the extreme lack of any decent offline play and should you choose
to play offline all the high powered weaponry you want to use are unavailable
to you.

You are also limited to the conquest battles, which take place in smaller
arenas and limited vehicles. This however is been taken care of as we
speak for the mod-ding world are releasing new files everyday.
On a positive note the game play is itself excellent, not only are you
given the option to customise you equipment, once you have gained sufficient
status, but also the three types of gaming, (co-op, conflict and titan)
add much variety and spice to this glorious festival of futuristic mayhem.
In titan mode you battle your way through the enemies fly fortresses
heavy shielding to gain access to its central power core which must be
destroyed to become victorious, all the while defending you titan.
The new vehicles are extremely realistic to control, from the new Walker
and anti-grav tank to the high speed buggies and the option to use the
drop-pod feature is awesome.
