Need For Speed Carbon

Another new release from EA this month was, yet again, another follow-on title, this time it's the turn of the Need for Speed series.

Carbon sees the return of the driver from 'Most Wanted', in this graphically rich and realistic racing spectacular. The game continues 5 years later from the previous title, now rival gangs race to gain control of the streets of Palmont City.

In the opening sequences many of the old faces from 'Most Wanted' make their return, Nikki, Darius and Cross but to name a few.

As a result of your car being totalled after your first race you are presented with a choice of a new vehicle in which to regain your reputation. New features include three primary car choices, (exotic, muscle and tuner), the option to have your own crew, (blockers, spotters and drafters).

As you battle your way to control the four city areas in which the game is set you must compete in a variety of different types of races; these include drifts, circuits, speed traps and sprint.

As typical with type of game you have the option to modify, sell and buy cars as you progress; however you have more control over the modifications than ever before using the AutoSculpt feature.

The game play is absolutely fantastic, EA have spent considerable time on ensuring that every detail in the game has been considered from the handling of the cars to the way the scenery blurs as you reach hair raising speeds.

If you play online even more options are presented to you, posting a photo of your car onto the fan sites or racing someone else for PINK's and on the PC version you have the option to 'be the cop'. This highly addictive game had me playing till 4 o'clock in the morning.
