| What is the course about? |
This course is designed for creative learners who would like to
pursue a career in the music industry. |
| What will I Study? |
There are opportunities to be instructed in Music Recording, DJ
Skills, Sequencing, MIDI, Sampling, Acoustics, Sound for Video and
Composition. |
| How will progress be assessed? |
Assessment is carried out using assignments and projects. During
the course you will produce a portfolio of evidence of your assessed
work. |
| What about key skills? |
As part of your programme you will develop Key Skills in one or
more of the following: Communication. Application of Number. Information
Technology. |
| Where will this programme lead? |
You have the option of studying for a Degree or HND at university
or looking for employment in a range of jobs which include: * Music
Recording. * Studio technician. * Sound Engineering for live performances.
* Broadcasting. * Theatre or film. * Music Industry. |
| Can I combine programmes? |
You will be expected to take GCSE English or Maths if you do not
already have these at Grade C or above. There are also opportunities
to take additional AS levels. |
| Entry Requirements |
* 4 GCSE’s at grade C or above or a Level 2 qualification (Intermediate/First
Diploma). * You need to be competent at English and Maths to be able
to understand and make progress on the programme. * Mature learners
may be considered without qualifications. |

The BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts (Music) is a course designed

The course offers opportunities to develop music programming, DJ-ing
and enhance your knowledge of the music industry. We also offer students
the chance to use the latest equipment and learn about the music technology

You will be assessed through practical work, performance and production

a chance to practice and create demos for free once they are part of the
