Paul Seckel - Pianist/Vocalist (working with drummer Tom Hardgrave)

Paul was a late starter, learning piano at age 11 compared to most professionals who begin lessons as early as four.

However, Paul received tuition from one of Yorkshire's top classical pianists, Martyn Scargil, for eight years. During that time Paul developed an interest in jazz and blues and unlike most piano teachers Martyn encouraged improvisation in all genres.

After leaving Headlands 6th form, where he had a successful two years of playing in concerts and organising shows, he enrolled into Dartington College of Arts, in which he graduated with a 2:1 Ba Hons degree in Music, July 2005, age 21.

From playing/singing in countless bands, ranging from jazz trios, rock & funk bands and founding his own 16 piece College big band, he has accumulated a vast repertoire of jazz, rock, boogie woogie, funk & pop favorites.

Since graduation he has been busy performing at venues like The Living Room and Pizza express, as well as various hotels, bars, restaurants and functions around the country. He is booked to play New Year's Eve with a six-piece band at the prestigious 1,500 century Dartington Great Hall in Devon.

He will be around the Bridlington area over Christmas and into the New Year performing and teaching. He has sparked interest from many venues around the town, already booked to play/sing jazz standards solo, and with drummer, Tom Hardgrave, during afternoons and evenings, plus livelier material funk/rock/pop material for parties and clubs.

Songs by Ray Charles, Little Richard, Beatles, Otis Redding, Elton John, Dr John, Scissor Sisters and Jamiroquai are just a few of the rock/funk/pop covers

The standards comprise of classics: Someone to watch over me, My way, Witchcraft, The lady is a tramp; Everybody loves somebody, Moon River…

He is currently waiting for auditions for cruise ship/ international hotel and session work but is happy to perform in his home town in the meantime.
